Let’s Play!
After following Toegoff's brilliant LP adventures for quite a while and seeing my friend David starting his own LP channel I finally decided to jump onto the Let's Play bandwagon!
So far I'm enjoying it, even with technical troubles, some hair pulling to get Vegas to do my bidding with editing and my own shyness standing in the way. =)
I decided to go for Starcraft II as my first Let's Play seeing as I just got it and most of the other games I have on hand are already finished or I've gotten halfway through them thus elmininating them as LP material. So, go check out my Let's Play Starcraft II on Youtube! =D
I do plan on doing LPs of The Secret of Monkey Island (the special edition), Jade Empire and possibly Prince of Persia the Two Thrones at some point. So I have tons of things to do eventually.
At the moment though I've had to put my LPing on the backburner while I finish two commissioned watercolor pieces. They both need to be finished by the start of next week as I will be heading back to Sweden next thursday and need to bring them with me. One is fairly straightforward for me as it has mostly familiar elements and I already have ideas for it, but this first one is tricky. See, I've been commissioned to draw a Warhammer 40K Space Marine Battle Barge. And me having a loose (at best) grip on perspective and generally never drawing anything that's not organic makes this task quite a whole lot bigger than it sounds. =o
I'm closing in on finishing the sketching now at least, but it's been taking a lot longer than I anticipated, even with me being unfamiliar with the subject. Either way, it's quite a learning experience!
So for now, back to sketching, no time to waste!
Art dump
Firstly a little something that I've forgotten to post.
When I were packing for moving over to Ireland I realized that the bag I had previously used was a tad small so I ended up buying a new one. It's quite a refreshing color, as it's a sunny orange as opposed to the usual dark blue or black bags. This sparked my creativity and after a bit of searching through mom's drawers I found a dark blue permanent marker and got to work.
By now it's slightly smudged as the permanent marker apparently didn't take to the surface too well. Still, I'm bound to find my bag amongst others!
Now, onto the "real" art. I've been sketching more the last few days than I have in years... Sketching never was a strong point of mine, I tend to always skip the doodling and sketching and jump straight into trying to do a finished piece. Which is very backwards, but it's been hard to change as it's such an old habit.
I did get a figurative kick in the shins when my friend Kaeshan asked me to draw some comic ideas he had. As I've never drawn comics properly before and I suck at likeness and keeping my characters consistent I figured if I ever was going to start sketching, now would be the time. In the end, I didn't sketch as much of the comic characters as I probably should have, but it actually does feel pretty good to do some loose stuff for once.
David, sorry for abusing your poor Chapter Master D=
Onwards!
Ok, so I think I finally got this place into a presentable shape!
There are still quite a few things needing to be done, but it's smaller things such as populating the galleries with the older pieces and general tweaking.
And while I do that, I might as well use the blogging part as that shouldn't need anymore tweaking for now.
So let's kickstart this with a couple of sketches!
I suck at chibis, but I had to give it a try when my friend Andy didn't seem to have anything against having what I call a "twirly 'stache". So, Andy with his sophisticated twirly stache! It made me laugh at least D=
After the previous silly spell me and Andy got to talking about how cool Space Marines are and how he wondered what he'd look like as one. I got to sketching, but Space Marine anatomy (or lack thereof) eludes me so it ended up looking more like just a dude in not-quite-enough-bigass armor. If I can dig out the boyo's Space Marines for reference there might be more spess mawine sketches in the future. =3
